This PD program has so far focused on 'laying the groundwork'
for supporting students' literacy/numeracy needs. At this point you
have:
- identified
the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of units you have
to teach
- listed
the workplace LLN skills relevant to your industry (and used these
to customise your units of competence),
and
- identified
learners who may need support to meet the LLN requirements.
In
this section (and its three sub-sections) you will:
|
- focus
on a variety of teaching strategies which you can use to assist
the development of your students' language, literacy and numeracy
skills
- review
the learning resources you use, to make sure they match, rather
than exceed the competency specifications, and do not set up unnecessary
barriers to students' learning
- review
your assessment strategies and materials to ensure they are appropriate
to the unit, and do not make undue demands on your students' LLN
skills.
To
continue, hover your mouse over the highlighted button in the menu,
and select each of the sub-menu items:
- Teaching
the literacy/numeracy requirements
- Reviewing
learning resources and tasks
- Reviewing
assessment strategies and materials.
