Pre-Apprenticeships:
- General Construction (Pre-Apprenticeship)
The course aims to provide pre-employment training for people wishing to become Carpenters or Joiners in the Building and Construction Industry.
- Introduction to the Construction Industry - Burnie Campus
This course will help you secure an apprenticeship or work as a trades assistant!
Starts: Tuesday, 8 July to Thursday, 6 November 2008.
3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) for 18 weeks, 9am to 4pm

- Carpentry & Joinery (Family of Trades) - Launceston only
This course offers full time Vocational Training for those seeking a career in the construction and furniture trades. Training may assist in employment, or an Australian Apprenticeship.

Australian Apprenticeships
What is an Australian Apprenticeship?
An Australian Apprenticeship is an employment based training arrangement (available to new or existing employees) where an apprentice has the opportunity to combine practical experience in the workplace with structured training. Selection is the responsibility of the employer.

Certificate III courses available are listed below. Training is delivered over 4 years.
- Construction (Carpentry & Joinery)
The objective of this course is to provide a balanced program of on and off-the-job training of skills and knowledge to gain the necessary competencies to meet industry standards in Carpentry & Joinery.
Work is available to practicing tradespeople in construction, both domestic and industrial.
- Carpentry
The objective of this course is to provide a balanced program of on and off-the-job skills and knowledge training that allows students to gain the necessary competencies to meet industry standards in Carpentry.
Career opportunites: On going work is available to practicing tradespeople in construction both domestic and industrial.
- Off-Site Construction (Joinery-Timber/Aluminium/Glass)
The objective of this course is to provide a balanced program of on and off-the-job skills and knowledge training to allow students to gain the necessary competencies to meet industry standards in Carpentry.
Career opportunities: On going work is available to practicing tradespeople in construction, domestic and industrial, i.e. creating stairs, kitchens, built-in wardrobes etc.
- Concreting
The objective of this course is to provide a balanced program of on and off-the-job skills and knowledge training that allow students to gain the necessary competencies to meet industry standards in Concreting.
