The training offered
in this area covers the quarrying industries area. Workers in this
industry mine (dig) and process rock, sand, and gravel from quarries
using a large range of plant and machinery including crushers, screens,
haul trucks, front end loaders and excavators. Once processed, the
rock, sand and gravel can be used to help make concrete for houses,
foundations for roads and for many other purposes.
The main employment areas in the
quarrying industry are:
- Earthmoving equipment operators
- Processing plant operators
- Quarry managers and supervisors
- Shotfirers
- Truck drivers and many more

Pre-Apprenticeship
MARCSTA General Safety Induction
This training package had been endorsed by the Tasmanian Minerals Council as one of the preferred inductions for industry in Tasmania. It has been nationally accredited to meet the needs of industry and meet the needs of Mine and Worksafe Acts.
Upon successful completion the client is issued with a Safety Induction card that is valid for two years after which refresher programs are undertaken.

Metalliferous Mining (Processing) - Certificate II, III & IV
The training offered in this area covers the metalliferous processing industries. Workers in this industry process mineral extracted from open-cuts, or underground mines, using a large range of plant and machinery including crushers, screens, pumps, conveyors and grinding mills. Once processed, the minerals can be used to help make wire cables, automotive components, building structures, as well as many other uses.
Metalliferous Mining (Underground) - Certificate II, III & IV
The training offered in this area covers the underground mining industries area. Workers in this industry mine (dig) mineralised ore from underground using a large range of plant and machinery including crushers, screens, haul trucks, loaders and drill rigs. Once processed the minerals can be used to help make wire cables, automotive components, building structures, as well as many other uses.
Metalliferous Mining (Open Cut) - Certificate II, III & IV
The training offered in this area covers the mining industries area. Workers in this industry mine (dig) and process minerals from open cuts using a large range of plant and machinery including crushers, screens, haul trucks, front end loaders and excavators. Once processed, the minerals are processed and treated and can be used to help make wire cables, automotive components, building structures, as well as many other uses.
Drilling (Mineral Exploration) - Certificate II, III & IV
The training offered in this area covers the drilling (mineral exploration) industries area. Workers in this industry drill for mineral samples using a range of diamond drills and associated equipment. Once processed the mineral samples can be used to help define the quantity, location and the viability of the mineral deposits.
Extractive Industries (Operator) - Certificate II, III & IV
The training offered in this area covers the quarrying industries. Workers in this industry mine (dig) and process rock, sand and gravel from quarries using a large range of plant and machinery including crushers, screens, haul trucks, front end loaders and excavators. Once processed the rock, sand and gravel can be used to help make concrete for houses, foundations for roads as well as many other uses.
