Who should enrol in this qualification?

We are a statewide program with an overall aim to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with quality vocational education and training (VET) to suit their individual and/or community needs.

This training can range from basic reading, writing and maths skills to specific employment related training.

We also assist with access to training at all TAFE campuses.

The training we offer varies from year to year (see table below for this year's courses),  however we always offer a Certificate in Preparation for Work and Study at all 4 major TAFE campuses.

The Certificate in Preparation for Work and Study has training levels from Certificate I to Certificate III and is for people wishing to improve their reading, writing, maths and/or general educations skills.  It is also suitable for those who wish to improve their skills for further study and/or to become more involved in their community.

We also assist Aboriginal students with the following;
  • Entry into mainstream TAFE Courses
  • Resume and Job Application Writing
  • Completing TAFE enrolment forms
  • Course advice and guidance
  • Completing Abstudy forms
  • Financial assistance with TAFE Course fees

Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Program (ITAS)

Aboriginal Training Porgrams have a Tutorial Assistance Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at TAFE Tasmania.
We can fund and find a tutor to work with you on your VET course. (Conditions Apply).
Don't leave it too late to get the support you need, the earlier you get this support the earlier you can achieve your learning goals.
