Return to Study (Adult Tertiary Preparation)

This program aims to provide you with the research, study, essay writing, communication and computer skills required to successfully undertake Certificate IV – degree level courses in 2009. You will develop confidence and self esteem and receive a TAFE Statement of Attainment after successful completion of the program.
The course will be delivered by a combination of teaching modes including face-to-face classes and on-line learning. This will give you a sound introduction to different styles of flexible teaching and learning that you may come across in future TAFE of university courses. As well as face-to-face classes you must plan to spend at least another 3-5 hours per week working on your course.
So . . . to succeed in this course you will need to be highly motivated and capable of self-directed learning.

Course in Volunteer Tutoring of Adult Learners
This program is offered in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, Burnie and Huonville.
Do you have the willingness to help others learn?
Volunteer tutors are urgently needed to help adults with reading, writing, basic maths and basic computing skills in the city, suburban and country areas on a 1:1 basis.
No qualifications necessary, but you have the opportunity to gain a Statement of Attainment if you wish.

Reading, Writing, Computing & Maths
Work at your own pace in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to build up your skills to reach your own personal, education or employment goals.
One-to-one or group literacy and numeracy tuition can help you improve your reading, writing, spelling and maths. It can also help you to learn skills for applying for jobs, handling money, reading instructions and similar skills. This program is supported by volunteers and as such is subject to volunteer availability. Names may be placed on a waiting list until a suitable volunteer is available.

Reading, writing and numeracy for people with an intellectual disability
This course is especially designed for people with an 'Intellectual' disability.
- Students are asked to participate in a skills analysis held before hand to help place them in an suitable learning environment .
- Classes are held once a week, and delivered in a small group with a maximum of 6-8 participants.

This program is offered in Hobart, Launceston (Alanvale Campus), Burnie.
Work education aims to provide people who have an intellectual or learning disability with the skills to undertake further training and/or study, enter the workforce or undertake voluntary work.
It is designed to prepare students with special learning needs or disability to make a smooth pathway to further training or employment. It is based on individual student needs and broadens their strength to enter work or study.
