Combined On-Road Defensive Driving and Off- Road 4WD Driving
Course
Two-day course
8 hours (8.00am – 4.30pm)
Day 1:
Symmons Plains Raceway or Baskerville Raceway.
Day 2:
Morning session: TAFE Tasmania Alanvale Campus (Launceston)
Afternoon session: Quercus Park
Cost: $390 per person (max of 8 people per course)
Topics covered include:
Day 1: Defensive driving principles; Hazard awareness & scanning;
Bio-mechanics of driving; Driving fatigue; Inattentive driving;
Emergency procedures; Hazardous driving conditions; Vehicle
maintenance
Day 2: 4WD driveline systems; 4WD operating principles; 4WD
driving techniques; Stall procedure; Ascending & Descending;
Transmission wind up; Vehicle recovery; Winch operation;
Basic 4WD maintenance; 4WD Tyres and Towing capacity.
Participants
are required to supply their own vehicle for the practical
sessions.
On successfully completing the course participants
will receive a Statement of Attainment and a Certificate
of Completion
(Certificate 1 in Transport & Distribution (Road Transport)
TDT10202 training package - competencies “Drive Vehicle” TDTC197B & “Operate
Four Wheel Drive Vehicle TDTC2501A).
