These short courses are designed to develop skills, and knowledge
in the hospitality industry. All courses are run depending on interest/demand.
Courses are held at Drysdale, Hobart, Devonport and Launceston

Introduction to Bars and Service of Drinks
Develop a basic awareness and understanding of bar service, job functions and career paths available within the hospitality industry and gain skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- essential customer service skills
- pouring beers
- preparing mixed drinks
- mix non-alcoholic drinks
- basic cellar skills
- overview of responsible service of alcohol (this is not the Responsible Service of Alcohol course)
- occupational health and safety

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
Bookings can be made over the phone by providing your name, address, phone number, date of birth and credit card details.
Nationally accredited, this course gives an overview of a server’s legal responsibility, liability and duty of care to patrons. A legal requirement to work with alcohol products in the hospitality industry.

Evaluate Wine (Standard)
This program is suited for restaurant/cafe, bottle shop and bar staff that wish to upgrade their skills and qualifications. The course deals with developing wine knowledge and examining evaluation skills. Tasting a variety of wines is incorporated in the program.

Evaluate Wine (Advanced)
If you are a wine enthusiast or you want to further your career in the hospitality industry, then this is the course that will teach what you need to know. You will reach an advanced understanding in wine evaluation through the ability to identify specific wines and their characteristics. You will also be able to identify wine faults. In this course Australian style wines are compared to world wines.

Senior First Aid (Workplace Level 2)
This nationally accredited course covers all the critical, basic first aid and is a practically orientated program. It is the flagship St John Ambulance course designed to impart knowledge, skills and attitudes deemed necessary for giving competent care to the ill and injured until medical aid arrives. The certificate is valid for 3 years.

Gaming Operations (Gaming Units)
The gaming program provides basic skills training in TOTE and Keno sectors. Applications for a Gaming Licence may be made after successful completion of Gaming units. Successful completion of this course provides graduates with the skills and knowledge required to work in the gaming sector of hotels, clubs etc at the Senior Writers Level.

- Operate a TOTE/TAB Outlet
- Conduct a Keno Game
- Provide Responsible Gambling Service

Provide Responsible Gaming Services
This unit deals with the skills and knowledge required to satisfy the relevant State/Territory legislative requirements and codes of practice to provide responsible gambling services and to provide information and assistance to customers.
The term 'Responsible Service of gambling' may vary from State to State and may also be referred to as Responsible Service of Gaming (RSG) or Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG).

The night club program provides practical experience behind the bar in difficult situations in a fast paced environment.
