Weed & Plant Identification (Spray Contractors and Operators)


Who should enrol in this qualification?

These units are required for Certificate of Competency as issued by DPIWE (Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment) for ground spraying licences and Certificates.

Units can be selected on weed, insect and disease control - discussions with chemical management branch DPIWE Hobart to choose correct units - Ph: 6233 6825

Do I need any skills?

Pre-requisites: Must have completed ChemCert Certificate.
The ChemCert course is conducted by Registered TAFE Tasmania Trainers on behalf of ChemCert Australia.  The course is conducted over two consecutive days with a theory test at the end of the course followed by a workplace practical assessment generally within four months of the participant successfully completing the two days of theory.

The ChemCert Certificate course is available Statewide.

Flexible. Delivered as a self-paced course. Generally completed in 1-2 months.

What Competencies will I undertake?

This training program has been developed to meet State Government licensing/legislative requirements under the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment's (DPIWE) Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1995. Persons involved in commercial spray contracting require appropriate licences relevant to their business operations.

The units chosen will depend on the outcome required as shown in the following table:

Weeds Only (eg. Roadside weed control)

Spray Operator (Employee) - Non-Cropping
Insect Pest/Disease (eg. gardens, lawns etc)
