Online Training

What is online learning?

Many students are now online, using a computer connected to the Internet to access a website with ‘virtual’ classrooms and workplaces set up by their training providers.

Many TAFE courses have an online component. This adds flexibility to campus based study, allowing students to access some of their course materials at times convenient to them. Many courses also encourage online communication with teacher and class colleagues, and online submission of assignments and assessments.

How does it work?

Students enrolled in an online course will usually have a login name and password so they can access the course website. The website will have interactive learning materials, and email and online discussions forums so that they can communicate with their tutor/teacher and other students in the course.

Online learning can be very flexible as students can access their courses at any time of the day or night, and from anywhere, as long as there is a computer connected to the Internet.

What you need

You will need regular access to a computer with internet connection. The computer's browser program will also need to be suitable for our online training software.

All our online courses are delivered using WebCT. If you would like a demonstration you can access a trial course.

However, many online courses also use print based materials, or will involve students in workplace experience and practical projects, so you do not need to be connected to the internet, or to be at a computer for all of the time you will be studying and learning.
