Given the culture of continuous improvement within the company, Pitt & Sherry approached TAFE Tasmania to work with them on implementing The Developing Professionals Program.
“Most of our employees are currently involved in The Developing Professionals Program, a program run in conjunction with TAFE Tasmania.
“The program has been developed to fine tune a broad range of skills, for the personal and professional development of our employees.
“This, in turn, will lead to outcomes that will better satisfy our clients,” Mr Douglas said.
A TAFE trainer visits Pitt & Sherry locations in Hobart, Launceston and Melbourne to deliver the training which has been tailored directly the needs of the company. The training covers many areas such as communication, team dynamics, managing internal and external clients, project management, leading in teams, quality management and report writing. With a two year life cycle, the training is conducted in ½ day workshops so business in not disrupted.
All the training is intrinsically woven into the existing business operations of Pitt & Sherry. It is contextualised training that relates directly to what they do.
“TAFE Tasmania has assisted in putting together a program that is flexible for our staff with a curriculum that encompasses a broad range of areas. The training covers employment categories such as Engineers and Scientists, Technical Drafting, IT, Finance and Administration.
“The training delivery methods have enjoyed strong positive feedback from attendees,” Mr Douglas said.
