Applying & Enrolling

Training opportunities are available to everyone provided you meet the necessary entry requirements and satisfy any additional selection criteria where there are more applicants than places.

Some high demand courses require an interview and/or other selection criteria. Others have entry requirements of previous study or experience. Check with the course area for more details on applying and enrolling.

Information Sessions

Information sessions generally occur at the start, middle and end of the year. Check with the course area for more details.

Some course areas offer information sessions which enable you to get a better understanding of the course and relevant career opportunities. These sessions are advertised in the weekend newspapers.

Recognition of your skills and experience

Anyone who applies to study can ask for recognition of previous work or study experience. It doesn't matter where or how you learned what you know.

This is called Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Teachers/assessors can mentor and advise the student in providing evidence from a range of relevant sources (eg workplace observation, workplace project, work samples, discussion and questioning).

You may also be able to apply for credit transfer for units/modules that you have completed previously. It is also possible to apply for credit for TAFE subjects if you decide to study at university. See Articulation to University.

Expression of Interest (EOI)

If your course requires you to put in an Expression of Interest (EOI), you need to do this before you can enrol. There will be a date by which you need to have this EOI in. You may also need to submit work or evidence of previous qualifications/experience.

Enrolling

To enrol you must see the teachers in the course area. They will talk to you about the course, sign your enrolment papers and give you any other information you need. Once you have a signed enrolment form, take this, along with your payment, to the main reception desk of any Institute of TAFE Tasmania campus.

Enrolment Conditions

The completion of an enrolment form and payment of fees is required before student status is granted. Students who do not pay the total fees owing will become a debtor of TAFE
Tasmania and will have their results withheld until the amount owing is paid in full.

See our Fees section.
